Starcraft 2 Terran Units and Structures
In this section of the site, you will find a complete list of all the Starcraft 2 Terran Units and
Structures.
In addition to basic information, I have included a variety of associated strategies that will help you win
games as Terran.
In order to break up the information into more manageable chunks, I have split up this section into the
following 6 articles:
Starcraft 2 Terran Units: Infantry
Starcraft 2 Terran Mech Units
Starcraft 2 Terran Air Units
Starcraft 2 Terran Support Units
Starcraft 2 Terran Basic Buildings
Starcraft 2 Terran Advanced Buildings
Here are some basic strategies and guidelines that you should know about Starcraft 2 Terran Units and
Structures:
Starcraft 2 Terran Unit Classifications
In Starcraft 2, Terran units are typically classified into three main categories: Infantry, Air, and Mechanical
(more commonly abbreviated as "mech").
Infantry typically refers to Marines and Marauders. Even though Reapers and Ghosts are ground units at the
Barracks, they are not usually referred to as Infantry. Reapers are more of a specialty harassment unit and Ghosts
are a support unit.
Mech refers to all Starcraft 2 Terran Units that are produced at the Factory. This includes Hellions, Tanks, and
Thors.
Air typically refers to Vikings, Banshees, and Battlecruisers. Ravens are an air unit but are considered a
support unit as the only way they can deal damage is with energy-spending attacks.
In general, Starcraft 2 Terran units are often considered the strongest out of all the races. Early game, Terran
units have an advantage against other races players, as Hellions are very good against Zerglings and Marauders are
very good against Roaches, Zealots, and Stalkers.
Later in the game, Siege Tanks decimate all ground units when used in a large enough number (except for
Immortals). Thors can be used to quickly take out Immortals with their 250mm Strike Cannon ability, which fires off
attacks in a rapid volley.
When it comes to air units, Vikings and Thors decimate all other air units. Terran rule the skies and the ground
when played by a good player.
With that said, beginners will find it easy to use Marauders and Marines and will have good success at that.
Advanced players tend to use more Mech and Air units.
Starcraft 2 Terran Structures
When Terran build new structures, the SCV building the structure is preoccupied and the SCV cannot be used for
other functions at this time. As a result, Terran players will often have multiple SCVs building things (especially
Supply Depots).
Terran Supply Depots can be "lowered" in Starcraft 2. Lowered buildings can be moved over by units. These Supply
Depots can then be raised. Many Terran buildings can also lift off and move to a new location.
Due to these two traits of Starcraft 2 Terran structures, it is a valid (and standard) strategy to wall off the
entrance to your base with Supply Depots, Barracks, and Factories.
